On the Road Again - Ingomar

November 2, 2018

Nancy was adamant about stopping in Ingomar, which lies between Roundup and Forsyth on hwy 12. The good thing about driving on this road is that there is no traffic, what I mean by that is there are no cars, at all, for something like 200 miles. We stopped for lunch here, at the Historic Jersey Lilly Saloon and Eatery, run by Boots and June where they always have a pot of beans on the stove, I think they just add to it, so those could be the same beans as in 1933.

In the early 1900s there were an average of 2500 homestead filings a year here, there were 46 businesses then, a huge town, until the devastating fire of 1921 that destroyed most of it. It used to be a sheep shearing center, but I didn't see any sheep, just a little corral and the schoolhouse which is where Nancy stayed the night once.
